Holy Communion (9.15am)

A traditional Anglican service with a reflective feel

All music is provided by an organ

Family Service (10.30am)

This Holy Communion service is for everyone. Once a month we all stay together for an all-age service, but usually the children will have groups to go to during the service. For further details please see “the Hub

Refreshments are served after the service.

Evening Service (6pm)

Evening services have an informal style with opportunities for prayer and ministry. Refreshments are served after the service.

On the 5th Sunday of every month we have a communion service.

About once every two months we have an experimental "cafe-style" service at 6pm. The next is on October 14th 2007.

What to expect at our services

We work hard to make our services vibrant, enjoyable and informative. We use Common Worship as a base, and we try to make this visitor-friendly and comprehensible, so that whether you are new to the Anglican tradition, or have spent a lifetime in it, you should find what we do accessible. Please tell us if you don't, its the only way we can improve.

God's word, the Bible, is central to all of our services. Our sermon series vary between working our way through a book of the bible, and tackling specific topics. We aim to do this in a lively and relevant way. We want you to feel welcomed at St John's, so as well as doing our best to greet everyone, we have worked hard to make our building more hospitable. In 2005 the building underwent extensive renovation and we now have improved heating, comfortable seating and carpets throughout the building.

We love children, and we love them to enjoy church too. The best service to bring children to is the 10:30am service, which most weeks has activities for children of all ages. One week a month we have a child-friendly all-age service. A supervised crèche is available at all 10:30am services, and all our children's workers are police-checked, so you can feel safe leaving your children with them.

Children and Young People on Sunday ("The Hub")

One of our priorities is children and young people. We've organised our children's groups based around the Church Pastoral Aid Society's "the Hub" programme.

Crèche                    0-2

Babies and toddlers have fun in a safe loving environment while also learning about God through stories, and songs.

Scramblers          3-4

Young children learn about God's love and care for them with stories, colouring and craft, & sometimes with supervised trips into the grounds. There's also lots of toys and play too.

Climbers              5-7

Discover for yourself what God is like through Bible stories, craft, colouring, and games, and make new friends at the same time.

Explorers             8-10

Lots of fun as through games, craft and cool stuff, you can learn what God wants you to see in the Bible.

Pathfinders         11-14

Meet with your mates and check out God's plans for your life. Pathfinder leaders are up for plenty of wacky games too so you don't have to leave your street cred at the door.
